In the beginning there was Mom. And Mom created the heavens and the earth. And Mom said, "Let there be Rob," and there was Rob. And Mom saw what she had made and said, "eh, could be worse." And Mom drove all the way from Philly to JFK just to see Rob off on his journey. I swear I have the sweetest and best mother ever.

The view from Lauren Bello's place in SF. I locked myself outside in my underwear 5 minutes after this was taken. The adventure begins.

For Soden- the old place in the Mission. My entire apartment in NYC could fit in the garage. Sigh.

You said it brother!

Can you legally marry a salad/sandwich combo or did prop 8 kill that too? This little number had me at hello.

"Don't tase me bro." If you ever really need a cop in San Francisco, just look for some hippies. The two are never far from one another.

There are a lot of ways in life to say "I can't do this anymore; I quit." Abandoning your car in downtown Oakland is one of them.

1/13 The Gold Cane!- Haight Street
Still $3 drinks all day and night. Still in my top 5 bars in the world. Well, not really, but I really like it. We'll compromise and say top 3.

Andy Goldsworthy is just a complete and total badass. He is the Chuck Norris of art.

My new travel wallet and camera case. Apparently I'm a rasta and a punk. Does that make me a rude boy? Either way I have no respect for authority whatsoever.

Why do the inside of burrito joints in the Mission always look like a pinata exploded?
1/15 Welcome to Melbourne!
How pumped up is this dude about booze? He should be some sort of international goodwill ambassador

3 hours into my first day in Australia. It was 20 degrees in New York. Point, Drury.

My first Aussie barbeque. Jughead actually did a decent job with the meats. Go figure.

Watch your back Cyclone, there's a new wooden ride in town and it's not in my pants. Hiyoo.
In all seriousness, it's sort of crazy that the dude running the ride is standing up the entire time.

Apparently the idea behind Australian theme parks is to scare the bejesus out of small children. WTF?

Kite boarding in the harbor. Crazy winds. Coe's kite was prevalent in my thoughts.

The Eagles loss hurt us all, but getting up at the ass crack of dawn to watch your team blow it is particularly crappy

Travel abroad is all about the little things. I really enjoyed these fellows. This one is straight Cobb

Yes! If the whole world were this genius we'd be conquering other galaxies by now.

Why on earth would you claim that one of your flavors is the "best tasting?" Doesn't that sort of discourage people from trying your other flavors?

I'm sorry, but am I in Philly here or what?

I'm not really sure what's going on here, but I am fully in support of it. This sign was hanging in a random coffee shop window. Makes me wonder who the frigid bitch in question is.

So this has got to be the worst ice cream cake ever, right? The good people at Carvel would have a hissy fit if they saw this.

Ahhh, the old dive bar. Nothing quite like it.

The whole world over, the kids love to skate. Except in China where they love to work in factories and smoke.

Melbourne is the art capital of Australia and one of the hubs of street art in all Aus/Asia. Here are some of my favorites from around town.

Not that I disagree in the least, but what a biased headline. This more than many other things really put the recent election into a global perspective.

I like the idea of a post-apocalyptic vision of a library being staged outside of an actual library. Someone here has a pretty good sense of humor about themselves.

Brunswick street in the Fitzroy district. Sort of a Haight street for Melbourne. I would soon come to learn just how hippie this town could be.
